Drive

Switchblade legs
Sliced across vinyl carseat
Slinging back shots
Of liquid promise
Out of a Jack Daniels bottle
Her eyes sweeping over you
Like headlights
On a fast car
’67 Mustang hips
slung beneath
candy-apple red lips
She’ll drive you
She’ll drive you
She’ll drive you
wild
Steering you fast
And easy
Around hairpin turns
Drunk on metal and leather
And denim over hard-muscled thighs
Fingertips kissing crucifix
Swinging pendulum-quick
Under rear-view mirror
Like a metronome
As you run a comb
Through slicked-back hair
One last time
Before grabbing the wheel
Careening onto the
Concrete and metal abutment
flying over the edge
And into the sky
