If you include the recap episode "The Final Chapter" of Lost, since it aired last night I have already invested five entire hours into season six of the series. (Yes. I'm one of those.) I would like to defend myself here, because those of you who know me best know that I do not watch much television at all. There are a few shows that I dip in and out of (Big Bang Theory, House, True Blood), but nothing that I am adamant about watching. The only television show that I must watch without missing an episode, without being late watching an episode, and staying spoiler-free, is Lost.
I am deeply intrigued by the concept of time travel addressed in the show, along with the philosophical and religious subtext. I like the themes that continue to reoccur throughout the past five seasons (science vs. fate, daddy issues, etc.). During the series I have fallen in love with each and every one of the characters for one reason or another. My favorite character however, must be pointed out.
Mr. Benjamin Linus, a man who was brought to live in the DHARMA Initiative when he was just a mere child. A man who eventually killed everyone involved in DHARMA to become one of the others, and a man who eventually became a leader of the others. I love not knowing whether or not he is telling the truth, I love wondering what he knows, and I love that I eventually came to pity him despite everything bad he's ever done in his life. He is the greatest bad-guy that just might be a good-guy.
That is, if you assume everything is as black and white as the concept of good vs. evil.
