Today I'm feeling: (rolling eyes smilie)
Today's Horoscope for Pisces:
You've been putting too much energy towards other people's projects, and like, no effort into your own! Take into consideration that you are not a personal tutor, and you've gotta make sure your own studies are in order before helping anyone else out with their mathematical woes.
So, someone tell that to my kid's teachers... Nahhh, I'm a MOM, it's my JOB to do the homework thing, no matter how much I think it sucks. (the load that each kid brings home, not school or homework in general---they'd drum me out of the 'old teachers union' for that, now, wouldn't they?---hah!)
And yes, I realize it is 6:30 am on a freakin' Sunday morning. I've been up most of the night---on top of all my other STURM UND DRANG, someone poisoned one of the dogs. My lead bitch, so to speak. The one who sets all the others off, and is the most protective of the kids. My favourite.
She's at the vets and will be fine, but it really pisses me off, because she NEVER leaves our property, so someone had to come into our yard---also freaks me out a bit, because I just recently saw that "Red Dragon" is being re-made for the big screen. Part of the bad psycho guy's MO was to poison or 'disappear' the family pets, so that they had easier access to the houses---I don't know if I'll go see it when it hits the theaters. The book was creepy enough!
---rambling now.
See what happens when I get NO sleep???
Perhaps I'll be more coherent in a few hours? Or not? At any rate, I'll have a quote and word of the day and the other usual stuff in that one. Less coherence and more facts, ma'am.
Oh, btw, check my Favorites, under "Save Martha"--- there is now a link from that site to a "Save Rosie" site---gad! *snort*
Wanders off to find the bed, "Move over hon...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz".
good news, bad news

Ok, first the good. Dad went through the surgery well. None of the anticipated heart troubles and the doc was able to get all the tumors and not take too much of the lung.
I saw him in recovery, although he doesn't really remember. He's in ICU and the hours are odd, so I didn't get to see him after 12:30 yesterday afternoon.
Of course, with the good comes the possibly bad. Doctor says his lymph nodes were 'swollen' (his word) and so they sent some to the lab to do a culture. We have to wait until Friday to learn if there was any cancer in his lymph nodes.
Hopefully, he'll be out of CVICU today and in a room. Thank goodness his insurance allows for a private room, because he'd be a grumpy roommate.

Today I'm feeling: (witch face smilie)
"A man lost his wife on All Hallows night,
and where do you think he found her?
Away in the sky, flying so high,
with the stars and the moon all around her."
~ anonymous
Oh my. I woke up this morning to 42 degree weather. The frost is most definitely on our pumpkins! The high today is supposed to be around 62 degrees, which is chillin' where we live.
Generally I fix chili for Hallowe'en dinner, because I can cook it all day in the crock pot, because the crock pot is black and I used to tell the kids that it was a 'witches cauldron', and because you can grab a bowl and eat whenever you are finished Trick or Treating.
I wasn't going to do the chili thing tonight, because it's been it's usual warm temperature, but I think, with this little Hallowe'en Treat of a cold snap that I shall. Of course that means a grocery store run today, but hey, that's fun too! All the people at the store DRESS UP!
This all reminds me of Hallowe'ens past. really, the most recent past was 9 years ago. Back when Luey (see cast list) and I were tight as ticks, and our kids all played together and she was still married to Black Bart and he and D were the best of friends---you know, the BAD old days.
She was pregnant with her youngest and our two oldest were knights, I think they were both 5? Miss R was a princess and R the younger, who was almost 1, was a court jester. Miss S, Luey's daughter was Lamb Chop---come to think of it, she was Lamb Chop for about 3 year in a row---she loved that costume!
It was SO cold that night. We had dinner at Luey's (chili, naturally) and then bundled the kids up for Trick or Treating. We ended up taking a wagon and Luey stayed home with R the younger, because she was having Braxton-Hicks and didn't feel like walking---I also suspect the chili had a bit to do with her pain, but she denies THAT to this day!
So there we were, me, 4 kids and the two men. In other words it was me and 6 kids. I made the men take turns pulling the wagon and I kept up with dropped candy and tripping children.
We made it about half-way down the street when suddenly this white stuff came out of this sky in big fat fluffy flakes. Mmmmhmmm, it was snowing down South for Hallowe'en.
We scooted back home for hot chocolate and sat by the big picture window and watched the snow fall on all the Hallowe'en decorations outside.
All the kids fell asleep in a big pile, except for R the younger, who was asleep on me.
It's a nice shared memory. Of course it's one I can only share here. D can no longer stand Black Bart, it is too painful for Luey to remember her years married to Black Bart, and really, the kids were too young to remember and to remind them now would only bring up memories of why they are no longer close to T and S. *sigh*
One of those memories that has the bitter with the sweet---sort of like those Hershey's Assorted Mini's packages.
Happy Hallowe'en from the Mermaid!
