be careful what you wish for...

Friday night I was absolutely dreading getting back in the car and making the 3.5 hour trek back home...the house was packed and all I had to do was turn off the water, lock the house, get in the car and go, on Saturday morning.
D calls me at around 5 a.m. to tell me to stay put, because a tornado touched down not a mile away from our home.
Watching the weather channel I soon learned that all the counties between here and home were under either tornado warnings or watches until late Saturday night....as Saturday continued, our county down here went under a tornado watch, then warning, then watch again...the last watch was set to end at 3 a.m. Sunday (today).
In the meantime, because our planet has a sincere sense of humor, back home has seen 3 inches of snow, and continuing to fall, this morning...so...here I am. Looking at photos sent to me via email of our back yard covered in snow (and the kids getting to pull out the sled for the first time in 7 years)...I just came in from a really brisk (read COLD) beach walk. The waves are pretty decent, I'm surprised we haven't seen any surfers this morning. It's a tad too cold for me, though, so maybe for them as well?
It looks as though I will head back tomorrow, which is fine...I'm ready, if only to make sure the kids are eating well. I just hope it's not to windy tomorrow, because my car is rather top heavy and wind friendly...I might end up flying home, or in a ditch. ;p
