Everything Happens for a Reason
Friday, 27 March 2009
When we ask for certain things in life, and we don't get it, or things don't go the way we would like them to, we often find other people or circumstances to blame. But if we take a step back and reflect, sometimes, it's not that life is trying to be funny with us, or toy with our emotions. Despite the fact that I get easily dejected, I try to hold on to the belief that everything happens for a reason. Each of us is here in this world for a reason, to make a difference to others, and every setback and happy event that happens to us, happens for a good reason. I'm far from being an optimistic person, but I think what I just said, keeps me going. That happened to me last night. I screwed up my practice moots, I was asked a question that didn't make sense, I was caught off-guard. The easiest way out is just to blame the person who asked me the question. But I sat down and thought about it, and I realised it's not such a bad thing. I would rather learn from these difficulties now, than learn the hard way by having these things thrown at me during the actual moots. I realised I should actually be thankful that things weren't going too smoothly for me at the moot court. And, I just watched this video, that almost made me cry. It seriously, moved me to the brink of tears. Such a short video, yet, very inspirational and motivational. It puts me to shame, and it teaches me to treasure what I have. More than that, it helped me to realise that no matter how hard life is, we are all here for a reason, and we are all made the way we are for a reason. For this man in the video, I strongly believe that if there's a god above, he put him in this world to inspire others, and put him through the suffering he went through to make him stronger in order for him to touch others' hearts in such a profound and meaningful manner. I give you... The man with no limbs. Click here. I guess it teaches us not to blame life for making things hard for us. And it just made me think - I'm always so demoralised by temporary setbacks in my life; they always make me feel like it's the end of the world. I question why I keep failing when I'm trying my hardest... But this man made me realise that his setback is for a lifetime, and yet he can stand up on his own. He said... That if he falls, and tries a hundred times to get up and fails, and if he gives up, he will never get back on his own two feet. But if he keeps trying, he will... I am truly, very, very touched.
